If my fiancé wasn't standing right next to me, I would have definitely called this lady out on what she had just done. But, I quickly decided that one dollar was not worth even bringing it up; either way I would have looked like a tool arguing over donating a dollar to charity.
After perusing this site, and seeing the entry made 4 months ago, I felt compelled to share this here...but as well, I will go above this to bring an end to this form of harassment....
Best convince store in town.
Word to the wise - stay away from this place; they don't deserve your money. There are plenty of other gas stations in the area from which to purchase the same stuff!
This place is awful. Former employee here. I know for a fact none of thd machines are regularly cleaned. They recently had to replace the tea dispensers because of mold growing in it and floating around in the tea they were selling people to consume. The soda machine is moldy, they pour bleach in the drain every so often to try and kill the black mold that practically clogs it. They would fail health inspections, except in the entire 8 months I worked there, ive known of 0. Zero. Health inspections.
Just dont shop here, there's also a circle k just like 3/4 mile up, go there.
I am outraged with the behaviors of the cashier staff at this place, with their campaign to request donations for St. Jude's Hospital. While I have "in fact" donated to St. Jude's Hospital and many other causes my entire life, I still believe that I have the CHOICE of donating or not. Over the last couple of months, I have felt harassed to give donations to St. Jude's Hospital, with their repeated attempts to get money from you, after you HAVE ALREADY TOLD THEM NO! I've been extremely tolerant but they have escalated their behaviors to HARASSMENT and it needs to stop, so this is just my FIRST STOP before I go to the top! I have asked them if they "in fact" get a percentage of the Donations and they tell me "No"...but I'm wondering if there isn't a contest at which Giant might get the most donations will "possibly" benefit in some way. At any rate, this is how the scenario goes...you walk up to purchase something, and before they ring you up, you are immediately asked if "you would like to donate a certain amount to St. Jude's" and I respond, "No, no thank you." Then as they ring you up, they ask, "CAN WE GIVE YOUR CHANGE TO ST. JUDE'S?"..I again repeat, "No, no thank you." You might want to scroll up to see another entry made about 4 months ago...where they took the donation after being told "No"....this has been happening for awhile. So, after several times of going through this, as I frequent this specific Giant Gas Station almost daily for coffee, as I work close by, I finally starting responding upon the first request, "NO, NO, AND NO!!" Even this is in caps, I actually said it very "matter-of-fact" and calmly... (This comes from Telemarketers calls in the past and being educated that they have to hear "No" at least 3x's before they can end the call...now we can just block them, of course...somewhat more difficult in person) The response from the "God Bless you" Cashier...that's her M.O....then accused me of being rude with her, however my Boss was with me that day and witnessed this...and for the first time acknowledged that he had also had this type of conversation with this same cashier to no "avail"...I told this cashier that when people responded with "NO"....She needed to respect that and not go further with the donation request...HOWEVER, she hasn't stopped and it has become worse.
Not only that, but the staff is disrespectful to customers, both to their faces on some occasions, but also awful things are often said once the customers leave.
Point is, that lady knew what she was doing, and A: I really hope that the one dollar she conned me out of is the worst thing she's done while working there, because if she's done anything beyond that, I would consider her a criminal. And B: you can't judge an establishment based on one bad employee, but this will be my first and last time stepping foot into this place, and it's all because of the sketchy experience I had with the cashier, who is supposed to be the face of the company during these transactions.
This morning, I stopped to purchase a cup of coffee...same "God Bless You" cashier, but this morning her Manager was on and the show they put on for me was profound...As I waited to check out, the Manager was in front of me "paying?' for something...and the conversation between the Cashier and her Employer, would have made a glorified commercial for St. Judes....with comments like, "if we don't support our children there will be no future..." this went on for a couple of minutes....AS I approached the Cashier, the Manager actually slammed thru the swinging gated doors that led back behind the counter, they actually almost hit me...WHATTT?!!! Really?!!!! Im sure there is Video footage that would prove what I'm saying..... I was again immediately asked for the donation, in which I replied, "No,"...but then as she rang me up, she repeated her request with "How about your 42 cents in change? Can we donate that?" I responded, "No, I want all my change back." Of course, once she is done harassing you, she follows up with, "God bless you...God Bless your day!" which is actually part of her continued harassment...as I don't need her blessings....her energy is toxic.
Everything here is broken. Management could care less.
Beware! Traveled to Sedona this weekend with my fiancé, always love it up here. On the way home we stopped at this Giant store just to pick up some water and snacks.
Great prices on everything and great staff.
This is Unbelievable!!!... THIS IS NOT HELPING ST. JUDE'S HOSPITAL IN THEIR CAMPAIGN!!!! Marlo Thomas would not be happy with how funds are being raised for an organization that has her name on it.
Upon checking out at the register, the cashier seemed friendly at first, but this bizarre encounter began when she asked if I'd like to donate $1 to help send special needs children to summer camp. Normally I will automatically donate to such causes, BUT before I could even answer the question, I noticed that, without even skipping a beat, she had scanned the barcode on the donation card as if I had agreed to donate. I also saw that she smirked ever so slightly, as if she was satisfied with herself that she had just stolen a dollar from me, because she thought that I hadn't noticed. Very chilling.
